| Beschrijving voorzijde | The inner disc features a portrait of Juan Sebastián Elcano set against a globe in the background, commemorating the first circumnavigation of the Earth (1519–1522). The legend JUAN SEBASTIÁN ELCANO arcs along the lower portion of the field, accompanied by the Latin motto PRIMUS CIRCUMDEDISTI ME, meaning 'First to circumnavigate me.' The dates 1519–1522, marking the start and conclusion of the expedition, appear at the shoulder of the portrait.
