Monaco's commemorative euro program is tightly controlled by the Monegasque government, and issues are deliberately kept to low mintages — this piece, marking the marriage of Prince Albert II to Charlene Wittstock on July 2, 2011, was struck in a quantity of just 11,001 pieces. That near-impossibly small figure places it among the lowest official eurozone circulating commemoratives ever produced, and legitimate examples command multiples of face value almost immediately upon release.
Collectors should be aware that Monaco's 2-euro commemoratives are frequently counterfeited using common eurozone blanks. The Gadoury reference MC201 is the standard attribution for authentication purposes.
