| Obverse description | The obverse depicts the European Union flag rendered as a waving banner suspended from a flagpole, with twelve five-pointed stars arranged in a circle at its centre, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the flag's adoption. The design, engraved by Georgios Stamatopoulos, fills the inner bimetallic centre with a dynamic, stylised representation of the flag in motion. The legend 'BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND' curves along the upper border of the inner disc, flanked by the commemorative dates '1985-2015'.
