| Описание аверса | The inner disc features a stylised globe rendered as a euro symbol at centre, symbolising the global reach of the single currency, surrounded by allegorical motifs representing the euro's significance to daily life: a family group, the Eurotower, a merchant ship, a factory, and two wind turbines, denoting respectively society, finance, trade, industry, and energy and research. The designer's initials 'A.H.' appear discreetly between the ship and the Eurotower in the field. The country name 'ÉIRE' is inscribed along the upper arc of the inner disc, with the commemorative dates '2002–2012' along the lower arc, and the euro symbol '€' also appears within the design. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union in accordance with the standard euro coinage format. |

Ireland's contribution to the pan-European 2012 commemorative marking the euro's decade in circulation was one of twenty-three identical reverse designs struck simultaneously across the eurozone — a coordinated issue that produced one of the highest combined mintages in modern commemorative coinage. Ireland's allocation was modest, reflecting the country's small population, and arrived at a grimly ironic moment: 2012 was the second full year of Ireland's EU-IMF bailout program, during which the euro's survival as a shared currency was openly debated in financial markets.
