Reverse description The standard reverse design for the 2 Euro denomination is depicted, featuring a geographical map of Western Europe spanning both the inner core and the right portion of the outer ring. The bold numeral '2' is positioned in the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean, with the inscription 'EURO' to its right, superimposed over the map. Six vertical lines traverse the inner core vertically, visually linking the upper and lower groupings of the twelve stars of the European Union, which are evenly distributed across the outer ring. The mint mark 'LL' appears in the field.

Additional information

Issued to mark the 200th anniversary of the Grand Duchy's independence, this commemorative pairs Henri I — who became Grand Duke under the 1815 Congress of Vienna settlement — with Guillaume II of the Netherlands, who held the Luxembourg title simultaneously as a personal union. The hologram variant was produced in limited numbers alongside the standard circulating issue, a practice Luxembourg has used selectively since the early 2000s to generate collector revenue without issuing a separate proof series.
