| Reverse description | The standard common reverse design for the 2 euro denomination, designed by Luc Luycx, depicts a stylised map of the European Union covering the inner core and part of the outer ring on the right side of the coin. The numeral 2 is prominently placed in the left portion of the inner core over the open field representing the Atlantic Ocean, with the inscription EURO to its right overlying the map. Six vertical lines traverse the inner core, and twelve five-pointed stars are arranged on the outer ring, six above and six below the map, symbolising the unity of Europe. The designer's initials LL appear in the lower right of the inner core. |
