| Opis rewersu | The common reverse design for the 2 euro cent denomination, designed by Luc Luycx, features a large numeral '2' dominating the left portion of the field. To the right, the legend 'EURO CENT' appears in two lines above a globe rendered in relief, centred on Europe and Africa with meridian and parallel lines engraved across its surface. Six diagonal lines extend from the upper right, and twelve five-pointed stars are arranged in an arc along the right and lower border. The engraver's initials 'LL' appear in small characters to the right of the globe. |

Belgium has issued three distinct euro cent portrait types for Albert II across the series, a consequence of a 2007 EU regulation requiring all eurozone members to update coinage portraits to include the country name — Belgium had initially omitted it. This second type, introduced in 2008, added "Belgique / België / Belgien" to comply, making the first-type pieces technically non-compliant under the new rules despite remaining legal tender.
Albert II abdicated in July 2013, ending a reign of nearly two decades. Low-denomination euro cent production for Belgium in later years of this type's run was heavily curtailed, with several years seeing no circulation strikes at all — only collector sets.
