The shield is surmounted by a crown and flanked by the Pillars of Hercules on either side, partially visible at the periphery due to the irregular cob planchet. The design is characteristic of the macuquina (cob) coinage tradition, struck by hand on a roughly cut flan, resulting in an irregular outline with flat fields and incomplete legends. | Descripción del reverso | The reverse features a large Jerusalem cross, boldly struck in the center of the irregular flan, with the four quadrants defined by the cross arms each containing a lion or castle motif consistent with the standard cob type. The denomination mark and assayer initial are partially visible in the field adjacent to the cross.
