| Opmerkingen |
Issued by the local Falange organization in Rubí, a small textile town in the Vallès Occidental, this note belongs to the wave of municipally-issued emergency fractional currency that flooded Catalonia during and immediately after the Civil War. By 1940, the war was over — the fact that Rubí's Falange chapter was still issuing paper denominated in eggs rather than pesetas points to genuine scarcity of small coin and a local barter economy that had not yet normalized.
Denomination in kind — eggs specifically — was not uncommon in rural and semi-rural Catalan localities during this period, functioning as a ration voucher as much as a circulating medium.
