| Obverse description | Central field features the crowned royal cypher of Christian IV of Denmark, comprising an interlaced 'C4' monogram surmounted by an elaborate royal crown, all within an inner beaded circle. The surrounding legend reads QVID NON PRO RELIGIO with the date 1627, separated by pellets, running clockwise along the outer margin between the beaded border and the coin's milled rim. The design is rendered in high relief characteristic of early seventeenth-century German hammered gold coinage. |
