Obverse description Two crowned and draped busts facing one another in the centre of the field, rendered in the late medieval hammered style characteristic of Netherlandish municipal gold coinage. The left bust faces right and the right bust faces left, both wearing open crowns with fleurs-de-lis and jewelled bands. A small mintmaster's mark appears between the busts in the lower field. The peripheral legend, rendered in Gothic uncial characters, runs continuously around the circumference within a beaded border, reading in the name of the Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand.
