| Reverse description | Saint Christopher, the patron saint of travelers, depicted as a large standing figure wading through a river, carrying the infant Jesus on his shoulders while supporting himself with a tall staff. The Christ Child raises one hand in blessing. In the background, a detailed landscape view features the skyline of Würzburg with its cathedral prominently rendered. A Latin legend from Psalm 16:8 frames the scene: A DEXTRIS EST MIHI NE COMMOVEAR. |

Christoph Francis von Hutten served as Prince-Bishop of Würzburg from 1724 until his death in 1729 — one of the shorter reigns among the eighteen-century occupants of that see. The Hutten family had deep roots in Franconian nobility, and the issuance of gold multiples during even a brief episcopate was standard practice for asserting princely rank within the Holy Roman Empire's ecclesiastical hierarchy.
Five years was barely enough time to establish a substantial coinage program, which partly explains why KM#277 survivors turn up infrequently in trade.
