| Obverse description | Draped bust of Christian III facing left, with beard and laureate head, occupying the majority of the field. The king is portrayed in a Renaissance style characteristic of mid-16th century Scandinavian coinage. A Latin legend encircles the effigy reading D. G. DANO. REX. CHRISTIANVS. 3, identifying the king as Christian III, King of Denmark by the grace of God. The coin is struck on an irregular flan with the slightly uneven surfaces typical of hammered gold coinage of this period. |

| Reverse description | The reverse field bears a bold four-line devotional inscription in Latin capital letters, centrally placed and reading VNICA SPES MEA CHRISTVS (My only hope is Christ), with the date 1541 appearing on the fourth line, reflecting Christian III's strong Lutheran faith. The inscription is surrounded by a wreath border, rendered in the rough but expressive manner characteristic of hammered Renaissance gold coinage. The flan is irregular, and the surface shows the typical flow lines of hand-struck gold. |
