| Obverse description | Draped and armored bust of Ferdinando II to right, wearing a high lace collar and ornate pauldron with floral decoration, the hair rendered in natural flowing curls. The effigy is executed in high relief in the elaborate Baroque style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Tuscan gold coinage. The Latin legend encircles the portrait, separated by punctuation marks, reading FERDIN DG DVX MANT VI. A beaded border frames the entire obverse field. |
