Singapore's lunar series coins are legal tender but produced primarily for the collector market, with the Monetary Authority issuing them in both base metal and precious metal versions each Chinese New Year cycle. The 2022 Tiger issue marks the beginning of the third repetition of the twelve-year zodiac sequence in Singapore's commemorative coinage program, which started in 1984.
