The Ningaloo solar eclipse of April 20, 2023 was a rare hybrid event — shifting between annular and total along its path — and one of the few in recent decades to pass directly over Australian land, crossing the Exmouth Peninsula in Western Australia before tracking northeast. Hybrid eclipses occur roughly once per decade globally. This issue also carries the sixth and final effigy of Elizabeth II used on Australian coinage, approved shortly before her death in September 2022 and used posthumously into 2023.
