Superimposed at the left side of the flag is a monochrome portrait of Mahatma Gandhi shown in three-quarter left-facing view, smiling, and wearing his characteristic round spectacles, rendered in fine engraved detail against the coloured flag field. The navy-blue Ashoka Chakra, a 24-spoked wheel, is visible at the centre of the white band of the flag to the right of Gandhi's portrait. No inscriptions appear on the reverse. |
