| Obverse description | Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, depicted at approximately 77 years of age, bare-headed, wearing a necklace and earrings, after the portrait by Susan Taylor. The circumferential legend reads ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA flanking the date 2022 and the engraver's initials SB. The outer bimetallic ring is struck in black nickel, intentionally serving as a symbolic mourning band in honour of the late Queen. |

| Reverse description | A solitary polar bear (Ursus maritimus) is depicted in the aluminium bronze centre, striding purposefully to the right across an ice floe, its powerful musculature rendered in bold relief with detailed claw work visible on the extended foreleg. A suggestion of icy water and fractured ice is indicated at lower right, conveying the animal's Arctic habitat. The engraver's initials BT appear in the lower field of the centre. The black nickel outer ring bears the legend CANADA to the left and 2 DOLLARS to the right, with the numeral 2 flanked by two incuse maple leaf devices at the base. |
