The portrait is framed by an ornate baroque-style scrollwork border of acanthus leaves and foliate motifs that fills the corners and edges of the rectangular field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs to the left of the effigy and TOKELAU 2022 arcs to the right. Beneath the portrait, a cartouche bears the Tokelau motto TOKELAU MO TE ATUA.
