| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse reproduces Benedetto Pistrucci's celebrated St. George and the Dragon design, originally created for the British sovereign coinage, here adapted to commemorate the 1920 Sydney Mint sovereign. The central motif, enclosed within a beaded inner border, depicts a nude St. George on horseback thrusting his lance downward to slay a coiled dragon beneath the horse's hooves, his flowing cloak billowing dramatically behind him. The date '1920' appears in the exergue below the central device, with the mint mark 'S' visible at the base of the design. The outer legend reads '1999 MASTERPIECES IN SILVER' around the upper arc and 'TWO DOLLARS' along the lower arc. |
