The Jerilderie raid of February 1879 lasted two days. Ned Kelly and his gang held the town, locked the police in their own cells, and — in a move that distinguished Kelly from ordinary bushrangers — had Kelly's 8,000-word letter dictated and transcribed there, demanding it be published. It never was, at least not during his lifetime.
Niue has become one of the Pacific's most prolific license-holders for commemorative collector coinage, with Australian bushranger themes recurring across multiple series. KM#7121 falls within a broader Kelly Gang run that has attracted consistent secondary-market demand among Australian numismatic collectors rather than Niuean ones.
