Reverse description The reverse presents a dynamic confrontation scene rendered in bold comic-book relief, depicting the Marvel character Captain America in his winged helmet and bearing his iconic shield on the left, facing the powerful figure of Thanos on the right, his chest armour prominently detailed. The two adversaries are separated by a dramatic lightning-bolt graphic, with the word VS rendered in large raised letters at the centre of the field. A dotted halftone background pattern fills the field in the style of classic Marvel comic artwork. The inscription 1oz 999 Fine Silver ©MARVEL curves along the upper border.

Additional information

Niue has operated as a licensing hub for pop-culture bullion since the early 2010s, leveraging a 1981 treaty arrangement with New Zealand that allows it to issue legal tender while New Zealand's Reserve Bank retains monetary authority over the island. The Marvel licensing agreement that permits this issue is held not by Niue but by the New Zealand mint acting on Niue's behalf — a commercial structure that has nothing to do with the island's 1,500-person population and everything to do with collector demand in the Asia-Pacific and North American bullion markets.
