Abu Sa'id Bahadur Khan inherited the Ilkhanate at age twelve following the death of Öljaitü, and his nearly two-decade reign marked the last period of stable Ilkhanid rule before the khanate fractured irreversibly after his death in 1335 — he died without a male heir, triggering a succession crisis that destroyed the dynasty within fifteen years. The Type C classification within his dirham series reflects a die revision made during his reign, though the precise administrative trigger for the change remains debated among specialists.
