Abu Sa'id Bahadur Khan inherited the Ilkhanate at age twelve following the death of Öljaitü, and his nearly two-decade reign marked the last period of stable Ilkhanid rule before the khanate fractured irreversibly after his death in 1335 — he died without a male heir, triggering a succession crisis that destroyed the dynasty within fifteen years.
