Beschrijving voorzijde The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia state coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a torch with a flame rising above a wreath formed by six bundles of wheat bound together at the base with a ribbon dated 29·XI·1943, the date of Yugoslav statehood. A five-pointed star surmounts the torch. The circular legend is rendered in both Cyrillic and Latin scripts, reading СФР ЈУГОСЛАВИЈА above and SFR JUGOSLAVIJA below, separated by decorative dot ornaments, all within a beaded border.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued as part of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization coin program, which Yugoslavia joined in 1970 alongside dozens of other nations producing specially designated circulation strikes to promote agricultural development. The FAO program was unusual in that it actively encouraged governments to use their national coinage infrastructure for a supranational publicity campaign — Yugoslavia's participation reflected Tito's carefully managed posture of engagement with international institutions without full alignment to either Cold War bloc.
