Reverse description A detailed frontal view of the medieval Serbian Orthodox Gračanica Monastery dominates the right portion of the field, depicted with its characteristic tiered domes, arched entrances, and stone masonry rendered in fine relief. To the left, the large numeral '2' denotes the denomination, with the date of issue inscribed below it near the bottom of the field. The curved legend along the upper periphery identifies the monastery name and denomination in both Cyrillic and Latin scripts.

Additional information

Serbia reintroduced the dinar as its sole currency in 2003 following the dissolution of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, retiring the Yugoslav dinar that had carried the country through the turbulent 1990s and its associated hyperinflation. The 2006 issue marked a further consolidation of national monetary identity after the formal separation from Montenegro that same year. The non-magnetic nickel brass composition distinguishes this type from later issues and matters practically for vending machine calibration — a detail that prompted the eventual transition to a reformulated alloy.
