| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the interlaced royal SA cypher of Sigismund Augustus, rendered in Gothic style with the letters elegantly intertwined. The monogram is surmounted by a royal crown of elaborate form. The date is divided by the monogram, with the first two digits appearing to the left and the last two to the right of the device, reading 1566 on this example. No surrounding legend is present; the design fills the irregularly shaped flan to its edges. |

| Reverse description | The Vytis (Chaser), the traditional mounted knight emblem of Lithuania, depicted in left-facing profile as an armoured equestrian figure on a prancing horse. The knight raises a sword aloft in his right hand and bears a crescent-shaped shield on his left arm. The horse is shown in a dynamic, rearing pose with a flowing mane. Beneath the horse, in the lower field of the coin, the Roman numeral II denotes the denomination of 2 denars. |
