Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma VI ruled Travancore from 1885 until his death in 1924, a reign that coincided with the kingdom's deepening administrative integration with British India. The chuckram series issued under his authority reflects a monetary system that remained distinctly Travancoran — the state resisted full absorption into the British rupee framework longer than most princely states, maintaining its own coinage hierarchy well into the twentieth century.

KM#44 is among the lighter silver fractions of the reign, struck at the Thiruvananthapuram mint.
