| Obverse description | Central device comprising a stylized sacred conch shell (shankha), the dynastic emblem of Travancore, depicted in high relief within a raised inner circle. The conch is rendered in a traditional Kerala artistic style with elegant curling forms. The inner circle is surrounded by a broad ornamental border of symmetrically arranged floral and foliate sprays, terminating at the base with a crossed spray motif. The entire design is enclosed within an outer beaded border. |

Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma VI ruled Travancore from 1885 until his death in 1924, a reign that coincided with the kingdom's deepening administrative integration with British India. The chuckram series issued under his authority reflects a monetary system that remained distinctly Travancoran — the state resisted full absorption into the British rupee framework longer than most princely states, maintaining its own coinage hierarchy well into the twentieth century.
KM#44 is among the lighter silver fractions of the reign, struck at the Thiruvananthapuram mint.
