Central field features the crowned royal cypher of Léopold II — a stylised interlaced 'L' surmounted by a royal crown — set at the centre of the round-holed flan. Four crowned heraldic lion shields are arranged symmetrically around the central hole at the cardinal points, flanked by diagonal ribs radiating outward in a cross pattern. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border. The circular legend reads: LEOP. II R. D. BELGES SOUV. DE L'ETAT INDEP. DU CONGO, separated by a single star ornament, running along the outer rim between the beaded border and the toothed edge. |

The reverse is dominated by a large five-pointed star with finely engraved radiant lines emanating from each point, centred on the round hole of the flan. The star's edges are delineated by rows of raised beads, lending a distinctive textured quality to the design. Six small five-pointed stars are evenly distributed in the field between the points of the large star and the beaded inner border. The denomination '2 Ces' is inscribed in the upper field, divided by the top point of the star, with '2' to the left and 'Ces' to the right. The date '1888' appears in the lower exergue, flanked by the engraver's initial 'L' to the left and the mint mark 'W' to the right. |
