| Obverse description | The entire field is occupied by a three-line patriotic legend in bold Latin lettering reading LA UNION / ES LA / FUERZA (meaning 'Union is Strength'), the Bolivian national motto. Below the legend, a small ornamental device consisting of two olive-shaped elements flanking a central six-pointed star separates the motto from the mint name and date. Along the lower periphery, the inscription POTOSI 1864 identifies the Potosi Mint and the year of issue, all within a plain flat field bordered by a fine beaded rim. |
