| 正面描述 | The obverse of this counterstamped issue displays a heavily worn and largely featureless field, consistent with a host coin that has been subjected to a counterstamp application. The original design elements are largely obscured due to the nature of the counterstamping process and subsequent circulation wear. The surface exhibits a uniform copper patina with areas of oxidation and granular texture typical of well-circulated 19th-century Central American copper coinage. The circular flan is well-defined with a raised rim. No legible legend or design detail is discernible on this face. |

Honduras faced a chronic small-change shortage in the late 19th century, and rather than mint new coinage, the government authorized the counterstamping of existing copper pieces already in circulation. KM#49.1 represents the first of two distinct counterstamp types applied during this period, distinguished primarily by punch style. The host coins vary considerably — finding a specimen where both the underlying coin and the applied stamp are fully legible is the exception, not the rule.
