Reverse description The reverse displays a boldly rendered, high-relief depiction of a traditional Chinese dragon rearing upright and facing right, with finely detailed scales, claws, and flowing whiskers rendered in the classical East Asian style. A Chinese character '龍' (meaning 'dragon') is inscribed in the upper left field. The flan is shaped to follow the contour of the dragon's form, giving the coin its distinctive non-round silhouette.

Additional information

Ghana's lunar series issues are produced under license and struck abroad — almost certainly at a European private mint rather than the Security Printing Works in Tema. The Bank of Ghana has issued collector pieces of this type since the early 2010s, targeting the international numismatic market rather than domestic circulation. None see any meaningful use as currency.

Gold-plated copper-nickel at this weight puts the precious metal content effectively at zero investment value — the appeal is purely collectible.
