The falcon-feathered nemes headdress frames the bearded, ram-headed face, rendered in gold-toned relief against a deep blue striped background evoking royal Egyptian textile patterns. Above the head of Ra rises a large solar disc decorated with radiating sunbeams in red and gold and bearing the Eye of Horus at its centre, symbolising Ra's solar aspect.
