Obverse description The obverse presents the coin in the silhouetted form of the Egyptian god Ra, entirely enveloped in an intricate background of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic motifs rendered in gold against a lighter field. At the centre, the crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, in the style of the Arnold Machin portrait, with the legend ELIZABETH II arcing to the left and 2 CEDIS to the right. The inscription REPUBLIC OF GHANA curves along the lower portion of the central field, accompanied by the Ghanaian state emblem below the portrait. The Eye of Horus appears prominently in the circular head section at the top, while the lower register bears the inscription RA flanked by two ankh symbols, with the date 2022 below.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a richly coloured, high-relief representation of the Egyptian sun god Ra in his ram-headed form, shown in a frontal seated posture with outstretched wings spread across the lower register. The falcon-feathered nemes headdress frames the bearded, ram-headed face, rendered in gold-toned relief against a deep blue striped background evoking royal Egyptian textile patterns. Above the head of Ra rises a large solar disc decorated with radiating sunbeams in red and gold and bearing the Eye of Horus at its centre, symbolising Ra's solar aspect. The elaborate collar and wingtips are accented with polychrome enamel in red, turquoise, and dark maroon, reflecting traditional ancient Egyptian jewellery motifs. The overall composition is vibrantly coloured and presented against the shaped flan, enhancing the deity's iconic and ceremonial character.
