The characters are rendered in the distinctive angular, architecturally formal style associated with Northern Song imperial Seal-script coinage, with bold, well-defined strokes rising from the flat field. The outer rim is plain and slightly raised. The entire surface exhibits the heavy iron oxidation and reddish-brown patination typical of Song dynasty iron cash. |
