The characters are boldly cast in raised relief against a flat field, enclosed within a plain outer rim. The inscription 紹熙元寶 denotes the Shaoxi reign era of Emperor Guangzong of the Southern Song Dynasty (1190–1194) and translates as 'Original Currency of the Shaoxi Era.' |

| Opis rewersu | Central square perforation with a raised square inner rim, the field bearing mint and reign-year ideograms in Regular script cast in raised relief at opposing positions around the central void. The mint identifier 同 (Tong, for Tong'an Mint) appears to one side, with the year numeral 五 (Wu, meaning 'five,' corresponding to the fifth year of the Shaoxi era, 1194) placed opposite. The heavily corroded iron surface displays characteristic ochre and grey patination consistent with prolonged burial, and the outer rim is plain and slightly irregular from the casting process. |
