| Obverse description | Cast iron cash coin featuring four Chinese ideograms in Seal script (篆書) arranged in cruciform reading order around a central square hole. The reign title inscription 淳熙元寶 (Chunxi Yuanbao) is read clockwise, with one character in each quadrant of the field. The calligraphic rendering is characteristic of Southern Song dynasty seal script, with bold, rounded strokes. The rim is raised and moderately broad, and the edges of the central square perforation are slightly chamfered. The coin surface shows the granular texture typical of iron-cast Song coinage. |
