| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a central circular field containing large interlaced Arabic calligraphy denoting the mint name and Hijri date, framed within an elaborate arabesque cartouche of scrolling vegetal ornament. This central medallion is itself surrounded by a broad border of repeating teardrop-shaped bosses alternating with small pellets, echoing the obverse border treatment. The overall composition is purely epigraphic, with no figurative imagery, consistent with Islamic numismatic convention. The milled outer rim reinforces the coin's irregular but generally round flan. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Algiers Regency operated as an Ottoman vassal in name while functioning as an effectively autonomous military state run by the Janissary-backed Dey. This coin was struck during the tenure of Hussein Dey, the last ruler of independent Algiers, whose refusal to honor a debt dispute with French merchant houses gave Paris the diplomatic pretext it needed. French forces landed in June 1830 and the Regency ceased to exist within three weeks.
Hussein Dey struck aggressively debased silver in his final years, though the 2 Budju held its fineness better than fractional issues of the same period.
