Obverse description The central vignette carries the Afghan state emblem — a circular seal with a wreath and mosque motif — set within an elaborate guilloche rosette, with the numeral 2 in Western and Arabic script at left and right. Multi-line Pashtu text inscriptions appear in the centre field, including the denomination and issuing authority. A red serial number and Pashtu prefix appear in the upper left corner, with two manuscript signatures and their titles printed in the lower centre area against a yellow-ochre and blue guilloche underprint.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a central oval vignette containing an intaglio view of the Kabul Independence Monument (Minaret of Knowledge and Ignorance), framed by fine lathe-work borders and ornate corner medallions. The numeral 2 appears in Western and Arabic script at left and right within scrollwork cartouches. Three lines of Farsi text in a ruled panel below the vignette state the note's legal tender status and issuing authority, printed in dark blue against a pink guilloche underprint. A decorative red snowflake rosette appears in the upper right corner.
