A central oval vignette contains the arms of Karlsruhe — a diagonal-striped shield — surrounded by ornate scrollwork. The denomination "Zwei Millionen Mark" is set in large Gothic blackletter script across the lower half, with the numeral "2.000.000" repeated in the upper corners. Below the vignette, a two-line text panel states the conditions of acceptance, followed by the issue date "Karlsruhe, im August 1923," a serial number prefixed "No", and the manuscript signature of Der Stadtrat. A central rectangular vignette presents a letterpress townscape view of Karlsruhe's market square, with the Stadtkirche tower rising prominently at right and the neoclassical Rathaus at left, animated by pedestrian and tram activity in the foreground. Flanking the vignette are symmetrical crescent-shaped foliate ornaments. The printer's imprint "Kunstdruckerei Arthur Albrecht & Cie." appears in small type at the foot of the note. |
