| Description de l’avers | Blue-toned Notgeld note printed on plain paper, with an elaborate guilloche underprint forming interlocking rosette and lattice patterns across the entire field. The denomination 'Zwei Milliarden Mark' is set in large blackletter (Fraktur) typeface at centre, above which the issuing authority 'Stadt- und Landkreis Gelsenkirchen' is inscribed in bold Gothic script. The circular seal of the Stadt Gelsenkirchen appears at left, a second official stamp at right, and two manuscript signatures appear at the foot beneath the printed titles 'Der Oberbürgermeister' and 'Der Kreisausschuß / Kreisdeputierter'; the date 'Gelsenkirchen, den 15. Oktober 1923' and the authorisation clause referencing the Reichsfinanzminister are printed in smaller roman type between the denomination and the signatures. |
