Paros, the Cycladic island famous for its white marble, operated a relatively modest civic bronze coinage during the late fourth and early third centuries — a period when the island shifted between Macedonian and Ptolemaic spheres of influence following Alexander's campaigns. The "var." designations against both HGC and BMC suggest this piece carries a die combination or secondary feature not precisely matched in standard references, which is not unusual for small island bronzes of this period where die production was inconsistent and short-lived.
