| Descrizione del rovescio | Saint Rupert, patron saint of Salzburg, is depicted seated facing forward in episcopal vestments. In his right hand he holds a salt box, referencing the salt trade for which Salzburg was historically renowned and from which the city derives its name. In his left hand he carries a crosier, the pastoral staff of his office as bishop. The date 1754 is incorporated within the encircling legend, which identifies the saint by name and title. The design is typical of Salzburg devotional reverse types, rendered with careful attention to iconographic convention. |
