| Obverse description | Diademed and veiled head of Queen Philistis facing left, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with exceptional portraiture. The hair is elaborately dressed beneath a royal diadem, with a heavy veil drawn closely over the head and falling in deeply incised folds across the neck and shoulder. The facial features are idealized yet individualized, with a refined profile typical of Syracusan coinage of the late Hieronian period. The field is plain, with no inscription on the obverse. |

| Reverse description | Nike, winged and draped, standing in a slow quadriga advancing to the right, holding the reins of the four horses in both outstretched hands. The horses are rendered in careful detail, stepping at a measured pace. A crescent symbol appears above the chariot group in the upper field, and the letter A (alpha) is placed to the right. The reverse legend BAΣIΛIΣΣAΣ ΦIΛIΣTIΔΟΣ, identifying the queen, is disposed in two lines around the field, identifying this coin as an issue struck in the name of Philistis, consort of Hieron II of Syracuse. |
