Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian-style helmet pushed back on the head. The portrait is rendered in a bold, somewhat archaic Hellenistic style with strong relief. The surface shows a green-brown patina consistent with ancient bronze coinage of Asia Minor.

The ethnic inscription ΑΙΓΑΙΩΝ appears to the right in the field, identifying the issuing city of Aegae in Aeolis. The figure is rendered in the typical Hellenistic civic bronze style.
