Pallanum was a Frentanian settlement in the central Adriatic hinterland of Italy, and its bronze coinage represents one of the more obscure municipal issues of the pre-Roman consolidation period. The Frentani submitted to Rome following the Samnite Wars, and this issue almost certainly falls within the uneasy decades of nominal Roman alliance before full civic absorption — a window narrow enough that very few types were struck at all.
