Above the monogram, a tiered Thai royal crown (chada) is depicted in high relief. A curved Thai-script legend encircles the upper portion of the field recording the occasion of the fifth cycle (60th birthday) on 4 July B.E. 2560, while the lower arc bears the denomination 16,000 Baht and the country name Thailand, all in Thai numerals and script. |

Issued two years after the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) in October 2016, this piece belongs to the posthumous commemorative program authorized by the Royal Thai Mint to continue honoring his 70-year reign — the longest of any Thai monarch and, at the time of his death, the longest of any living head of state worldwide. Princess Chulabhorn, the youngest of his three daughters, holds the distinction of being the only Thai royal to have received the Einstein Medal, awarded in 1986 for her contributions to chemical research.
