| Obverse description | Central shield of the Somali coat of arms, featuring a five-pointed star on a plain field, supported by two leopards rampant on either side, with a scroll beneath. The Hijri and Gregorian commemorative dates 1399–1474 / 1969–1979 appear below the shield in both Arabic and Latin numerals.
