Issued to mark the 1976 IMF/World Bank Annual Meeting held in Manila — a political coup for Marcos, who used the event to project an image of the Philippines as a stable, modernizing economy despite being under martial law since 1972. The meeting was the first time the IMF/World Bank had convened in Southeast Asia.
